Powertrain Service and Repair in Oak Forest and the South Suburbs
Vehicle Masters handles powertrain diagnostics and repairs for drivers in Oak Forest and the surrounding South Suburbs. The powertrain covers everything that generates and delivers power to the wheels, and when any part of it starts to fail, you will usually feel it or see it show up as a warning on the dash.
What the Powertrain Covers
The powertrain includes the engine, transmission, driveshaft, differentials, axles, and CV joints. These components work together to move the vehicle. A problem in any one of them affects how the vehicle accelerates, shifts, handles, and performs overall. We inspect and repair all of these systems and can identify where a problem is originating even when the symptoms are not immediately obvious.
Driveshaft and Axle Repairs
Vibration at speed, clunking during acceleration, and clicking noises during turns are common signs of driveshaft, axle, or CV joint issues. We inspect driveshafts, U joints, CV axles, and CV boots. Worn CV boots allow grease to escape and contaminants to get in, which accelerates wear on the joint itself. Catching these early prevents more involved repairs down the line.
Differential Service and Repair
Front and rear differentials distribute power between the wheels and need periodic fluid changes to stay in good condition. Worn differential fluid leads to gear wear, noise, and eventually failure. We service front, rear, and transfer case differentials, and handle repairs involving ring and pinion gears, bearings, and seals when the differential has developed a problem.

Nonetheless, I need to again express how grateful I am for Steve being honest, patient, informative, non-judgmental and just an all around anomaly, -ie- a true exception in a business that more often than not just flat out preys upon folks like me. God bless you Steve and thank you for all you've done for us.Posted on Kevin TruellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Steve was awesome!!!! I was in a pinch with my wife Jeep Grand Cherokee L hood not closing. I thought she was going to have to call off the next day for work while I take the care somewhere to get fixed. But Steve was able to squeeze me in at the last minute, he fixed it in no time and was very professional while still being informative of the issue and how he will resolve it. It’s good knowing there are still great mechanics and shops that’s willing to help out when they can. I have already recommended vehicle masters to my next door neighbor. I’ll definitely be coming back to this shop again!Posted on Dajuan SpiresTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fair price and great service.Posted on Chuck TolandTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I don’t usually write reviews, but after the experiences my wife had with Steve, I felt like it needed to be said. It’s not easy these days to find a mechanic who treats you with real respect, patience, and honesty. But Steve does exactly that, every single time. From the moment my wife first took her 2001 XJ in, Steve has treated her with an understanding and kindness that immediately set him apart. He takes every concern seriously, no matter how small it might seem. He doesn’t rush or dismiss you. He will dive in, research, and take action. He puts real time into investigating issues thoroughly and doesn’t quit until he knows the job is done right. It’s obvious he takes pride in his work, and even more obvious that he stands 100% behind the work he does. He installs the right parts, not shortcuts or cheap substitutions, and he always explains everything in detail. He spends so much time walking you through what’s going on, why it’s happening, and what the best solution is. He makes sure you fully understand, and he does it without talking down to you. We’ve had our fair share of mechanics over the years and we have never found anyone who runs a business the way Steve does. His honesty, his integrity, and his dedication to doing the job right are unmatched. We feel incredibly grateful to have found someone we trust this much with our vehicles and our safety. If you’re looking for a mechanic who will treat you with respect, communicate clearly, work with you, and stand solidly behind everything he does, Steve is that guy. Thank you, Steve! The Jeep is all set for winter and runs great now!Posted on Hamko Distribution, LLC
